What is a combine?

A combine is a structured evaluation event where athletes participate in drills, measurements, and live play designed to showcase their volleyball skills, athleticism, and potential in front of college coaches. It allows coaches to evaluate multiple athletes in a standardized setting.

Will scholarship offers be made at the combine?

Scholarship offers are not typically made on the spot. However, the combine can be an important first step in the recruiting process. Coaches may continue evaluating athletes after the event through follow-up communication, campus visits, camps, or future tournaments.

Why should I participate in the combine if I have limited experience?

The combine is designed to evaluate potential, not just experience. Coaches look at athleticism, movement, coachability, effort, and growth potential. Many athletes use combines to gain exposure, confidence, and valuable feedback regardless of their current experience level.

What should I do before the combine?

  • Complete your registration and required forms
  • Be physically prepared and well-rested
  • Know your graduation year and basic academic information
  • Bring proper volleyball gear (knee pads, court shoes, water, etc.)
  • Review basic volleyball terminology and positions

Why are measurements included as part of the combine?

Measurements such as height, reach, and jump provide objective data that helps coaches compare athletes consistently. While measurements are not the sole determining factor, they are a valuable tool used alongside skill evaluation and game play.

Who is eligible to participate in the combine?

The combine is open to volleyball female athletes in the Classes of 2027–2030, who has the potential and desire to play at the collegiate level!

How do college coaches define “interest” in a player?

When a player generates interest, it means a coach has identified them as someone they want to continue evaluating. This may lead to future communication, requests for video, invitations to camps, or tracking the athlete during future competitions.

How will I know if I generated interest at the combine?

Interest may be shown in several ways, including a coach speaking with you after the event, following up via email, requesting film, or inviting you to another event. Not all interest is immediate—many coaches evaluate athletes over time.

What should I do after the combine?

  • Follow up with coaches who were present using appropriate recruiting communication
  • Continue developing your skills and game performance
  • Update your recruiting profile with combine experience
  • Stay proactive and patient—recruiting is a process

Will I get a fair opportunity to show my abilities to college coaches?

Yes. The combine is structured to give all participants equal opportunities through organized drills and competitive play. Coaches are present to observe multiple aspects of each athlete’s performance, including effort, skill, athleticism, and coachability.
